For a while now I thought about starting a real blog. MySpace used to be my forum, but I’m starting to get over that website. And Facebook, which has become the forum for so many, just isn’t the right place for me. WordPress, from what I’ve seen, is easy to use, attractive and doesn’t have all the crazy applications that the social networking sites have.

Why am I writing today in the middle of the day? Well, I took my “personal” day. We were hoping that Maverick would be able to stay home today, but he had to go into work for a meeting. So, I’m here at home just relaxing. And it’s great that it’s raining – the cold and rainy weather is helping me to just stay on the couch and relax. Usually, when I take a day off from work, I end up working around the house – I just don’t know how to relax. This cold weather is great for so many reasons – we needed the rain, we’re saving money and water because we don’t have to water the lawn and plants, and it’s keeping me from working!

The next few weeks have a few fun and exciting things in store for me:

• Tomorrow I will be attending a Dodger game! I’ve heard that we’ll have great tickets, but it wouldn’t matter where they’re at – it’s free so I’ll love where ever we sit! I’ll be going to the game with Regina, Jennifer and Melanie – it should be good times.
• This Wednesday I will be leaving for Las Vegas with my colleagues fro the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC) Conference. These conferences are always great because they have great information, but they area also great ways to network and see old friends that I haven’t seen since the Fall travel season.
• In the middle of June a few of my colleagues and I will be traveling to Portland, Maine for the Recruitment PLUS conference. Recruitment PLUS is a computer program that we use at work to work with our students (prospects, applicants, admits, etc). I’m not sure how this conference will be since I haven’t attended one, but it will be great to travel to a few states I have never visited before. We will be traveling to Boston, checking out that great city, and then making our way to Maine. We’ll be in Maine for 5 days.

My goal is to continue writing down my thoughts and sharing them. Hopefully this time I’ll be able to stick to my goal!
